THE TANZANITE Cs
Njaro Tanzanites are graded according to a set of standards developed by the European Gemological Laboratories based on colour, clarity, cut and carat weight – the four Cs.
Colour
Hue: Colour ranges from a slightly violetish blue straight through to a slightly bluish violet (to indicate either a blue or violet dominance). Saturation: The intensity of the colour.
Clarity
Natural flaws or imperfections in the stone are graded from the exceptional LC (loupe clean) clarity to less desirable HI (heavily included).
Cut
Stones are graded from excellent (the finest overall finish of the stone) to poor.
Carat
As with diamonds, the value of a Tanzanite is also graded according to its weight, which is naturally influenced by the stone’s cut.
